FOCUS DESIGN AREA

Stand 5 M 031

1928-2008: Spotlight on 80 years of innovation and industrial design at MICAD & IND.ao 2008.

Television programs, press articles, full-page features in magazines, adverts, specialized shops and new designers - everywhere you look, you find design.
What is design - a new style, a gadget or a magic formula that sells? A fad that's soon replaced by another new trend? These are some of the common questions about design.
To help answer them, Focus Design takes you on a journey through the industrial design of the past 80 years. It features 180 products showing the progress we've seen over time: from voice, data and image systems to the digital convergence that emerged in the late 90s, bringing us new communications technologies that have transformed our day-to-day lives.
Each product exemplifies an innovation associated with a technological advancement and shows how the designer made use of improvements in materials and procurement methods.
FOCUS DESIGN was designed and produced in collaboration with Concept Frenoy Design and Nomada, Les Arts Nomades Cie.
